Keystone Club of Sonoma Valley
Keystone Clubs are chartered small group leadership development clubs for young people ages 14 to 18. Keystoners elect officers, choose their own activities and plan and implement community service projects. A national charter entitles a Keystone Club to participate in regional and national Keystone conferences. This teen leadership program is funded by the Taco Bell Foundation. Local projects have included beach and park clean-ups, coat and food drives and Club Dances, where teens from all over the Sonoma Valley area come to have fun with friends in a safe and positive environment. KCSV meets Thursday at 6pm at the Maxwell Park Clubhouse. For more information on the Keystone Club, email James Conners at jconners@bgcsonoma.org.

Youth of the Year
Youth of the Year is BGCSV’s premier youth recognition program for Club members. All members can benefit from participation in this program, which promotes and celebrates service to Club, community and family; academic performance; moral character; life goals; and poise and public speaking ability. The Youth of the Year program is most effective when used as a year-round tool for fostering young people’s character, personal growth and leadership qualities. Local Clubs recognize members ages 14-18 who were Youths of the Month and select a Youth of the Year, who then participates in state competition. State winners, who each receive $1,000 scholarships, participate in regional competitions. Five regional winners each receive an engraved plaque and a $10,000 scholarship and compete on the national level. The National Youth of the Year receives an additional $15,000 scholarship and is installed by the President of the United States. Reader’s Digest Foundation has sponsored the Youth of the Year program for more than 60 years. For more information on the Youth of the Year program, email James Conners at jconners@bgcsonoma.org.
Date SMART (Skills Mastery And Resistance Training)
Offered Mondays after school on the SVHS campus, Date SMART is a supplement to SMART Girls and Passport to Manhood, and an exciting new resource for Club members ages 13 to 18. Through fun and easy-to-use sessions, members learn how to achieve mutually supportive relationships free of violence and abuse. The program also encourages youth to become community advocates for relationships that promote equality and respect while combating the attitudes and behaviors that lead to dating, sexual and domestic violence. For more information on Date SMART, email Robin Eurgubian at reurgubian@bgcsonoma.org or call 938.8544 x117.

Volunteering Opportunities
The Club offers several opportunities for teen members to give back to their Club and community. Teens may join Keystone Club to become part of a national movement of service or may be interested in a personal service project. Volunteer opportunities include helping members with homework, mentoring younger members and leading or assisting with programs. Qualifying teen volunteers may be referred to the "Big Buddies" program, where they would be paired with a younger member of the Club, working with them in the areas of academics, social recreation and physical activity. For more information on how you can volunteer at the Club, email Margie Doran at mdoran@bgcsonoma.org.
Senior Projects
The Club offers mentoring for high school senior projects. Teens can come to the Club for guidance and structure with their project from conception of project idea to completion. Projects at the Club have included Running Club, Talent Show and Musical Recording and Engineering. Other project areas include Culinary Arts, Mentoring, Fine Arts, Digital Arts, Video, Audio Recording, Fitness Instruction, Social Activism and Community Service.
